As such, I won't be using a SIM with it but I did try it and it took a couple of gos to be recognised, for some reason, but then worked ok.  It takes quite a long time to boot up but that's not a big issue.The phone itself is very chunky and heavy in a reassuring sort of way - it's basically a power-pack with a phone attached.  It's not super quick, the screen isn't perfect and the camera is not good at all but that doesn't concern me too much for my purposes although the battery symbol in the notifications area is incredibly hard to read.  The phone came with a screen protector and also a tempered glass screen protector packaged separately.  It's not clear to me whether this is the same or better than the one pre-fitted so I've haven't used it yet.The Amazon page showed that it came with a free belt-loop connector but it turns out that if you didn't use the promotion code (what promotion code?) you have to ask them for it directly and supply them with your name, address, email, etc. to get it and I'm not doing that.  It did come with a lanyard, however.I gave it a test run the other day and it worked brilliantly as a GPS device with no SIM and found that at the end of the day, it was still at 92% battery so I'm pretty chuffed about that.  The facial recognition unlock is a bit hit and miss which is an annoyance when you are continually taking it out to check your route.  I might have to bypass security when I'm using it.It might be expensive just to use for GPS but I bought a Garmin GPS a couple of years ago for half the price and it turned out to be next to useless - you couldn't downloaded routes OTA, it was hard to use and the screen was tiny and difficult to navigate.  This is obviously miles better as it's a standard Android 12 phone and I was able to download map data in the field via my other phone using wifi tethering so I didn't even need to swap the SIM to do that.In conclusion, for what I want it for it's great.
